The Designer
The Managing Director, TJF Barnett, holds a diploma in yacht design and is a member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.
Tim Barnett is a New Zealander who studied in the USA and began his design and consulting business in Seattle in 1980. Prior to going to the USA Tim worked in the Research and Development section for CWF Hamilton. In fact it was CWF Hamilton Jets who financed Tims studies in the USA. Barnett Offshore Design has been in business for 30 years and during this period has designed and constructed many unique and innovative craft. Vessels that have not only shown themselves to be exceptional in the pleasure and commercial boat market but also in the international patrol boat market. The company had its own construction facility up until 1995 at which point it employed a staff of 22. The company closed its manufacturing business to focus solely on design and consulting. The company was one of the first to offer computer cut kitsets.
The Company uses Autoship Software for all hull design and hydrostatic analysis. We use Versa-Cad and Auto Cad for all design drawings and we use a product called Rhino for rendering where required.
